Destination Imagination Registration 24-25

Dear Parent,

Your student has expressed an interest in being a member of Destination Imagination. If selected he/she will be participating in the creative development of a project that will take them from imagination to innovation.  The team will meet after school and possibly on weekends as needed by the team. The students (you) will be responsible for transportation to and from meetings. Trainings and competitions take place on weekends and occasionally during the week. 

Regional- Mesquite Poteet HS 2/1/25, State-UT Arlington 4/12-4/13/24, Global Finals-KC, MO 5/22/24-5/25/24  (These dates are subject to change slightly.)

Please read the guidelines below and discuss with your student. If it is acceptable for your student to apply, please sign this form and have your student include it with the other portions of the application to their campus office or via email to kelseys@greenvilleisd.com and/or hilljr@greenvilleisd.com by Friday, September 6, 2024.   Your permission is required before his/her application can be accepted. Tryouts for Middle and Secondary Levels TBA.

Please note there is a $35 fee for DI.  If the fee is a hardship, please contact John or Shawnna. Payment is due by 11/8/24. Please be sure to pay your team manager.

Team Members will be chosen by team managers, as teams are formed.   Additional teams will be formed as team managers volunteer. Parent managers are always welcome! Team member must show good character at all times. Character is much more than just what we display for others to see; it is who we are even when no one is watching.

Grades must show they are academically successful.

Must have a good school attendance record (No excessive absences or tardies).

Must show leadership as well as good decision-making capabilities.

Must work well in groups and be able to listen with an open mind.

DI Attendance:  Attendance is MANDATORY at practices and competition.  Excessive absences could result in removal from program.

DI Transportation:  Will you be able to provide transportation to and from DI practices?

Students/Parents are responsible for all transportation to and from practices.  Teams meet after-school, evenings, and some weekends. Most teams meet one or two days September-December then adding one or two practices depending on the team and the challenge.  Teams meet in a variety of locations, many meet at the DI building located at the GISD DI Wing at Houston Education Center

DI Grades:  Destination Imagination follows all UIL policies regarding grades.  Students must be passing in order to participate.  Students exhibiting difficulties with academic success may be removed from the team.
