MAPS Foundry - Student Application
Thank you for your interest in joining the MAPS Foundry Program! The Foundry delivers paid hands-on opportunities to STEM undergraduate students, including exciting, engaged, local research opportunities, internships, and entrepreneurial training. The goal of the MAPS Program is to increase STEM student success, with emphasis on supporting underrepresented, low-income, and first generation students.

Qualifications: New interns are typically first year, sophomores, or transfer students. Applicants should have a minimum of 2.5 GPA, and be Current fulltime (minimum 6 credits) students enrolled at CSU Pueblo. Applicants should be current STEM Majors (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, CBC, Physics, Math, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering) at CSU Pueblo.

Expectations: Accepted students are required to attend Foundry orientation and kickoff meetings (held at the beginning of each semester and summer intensive), commit about 6 hours a week towards research during the academic year (fall and spring), and about 20 hours a week during the 8-week summer research intensive (June and July). Interns work with faculty mentors and research teams to complete research projects, and prepare a poster presentation for the STEM Symposium (held in October) or Spring Symposium (held in April). Interns submit their monthly effort for pay via a stipend through Student Employment. Continuation in program is dependent adequate progress and commitment to research.

The Foundry Fall application is open August 14-31. Applications will be reviewed September 1, with acceptance decisions emailed to student applicants on September 4. Please complete this application, and MAPS Foundry Director Dr. Jim Carsella will contact you via email by September 4 with admission decisions.
