Student Cell Phone Policy- Special Permission

Please fill out the following form to receive special permission for your child's cell phone to be stored in the office during the school day. Please note that students who ride the bus, currently in season athletes, after-school extracurricular participants (ex: show choir or other CMA activities), or students with extenuating family circumstances can request for cell phones to be kept in the office during the school day. Please read our cell phone policy below.

According to the ACS Student Handbook (page 53):

Cell phones are prohibited from school at all times and prohibited at all school functions off campus, unless otherwise stated by Administration. Bus riders, In Season Athletes or after school extra-curricular participants may obtain permission from the office to bring a cell phone to school and turn it into the office. Also, students with extenuating family circumstances can request for cell phones to be kept in the office during the day (ex: being picked up by a different family member). At no time during the school day should a student have a cell phone on them.
* Failure to adhere to this policy will result in the possible confiscation of non-academic electronic devices (cell phone, game unit, iPad or other tablet, pointer, music disc, video recorder, camera, or any other electronic device, etc.) and parents will be allowed to retrieve the device at the end of the school day. Detentions will also be assigned to any student violating this policy.

1st offense: If a cell phone or electronic device is recovered from a student, a detention will be incurred. Parents/students will be allowed to come and pick up the phone at the end of the school day.

2nd offense: If a cell phone or electronic device is recovered from a student, a 2nd detention will be incurred. Parents/students will be allowed to come and pick up the phone at the end of the school day.

3rd offense or more: If a cell phone or electronic device is recovered from a student, a detention will be incurred each time. Parents/students will be allowed to come and pick up the phone at the end of the school day.

I understand that being able to have my child leave their cell phone in the office is a privilege. I have read the student cell phone policy listed above. My child will NOT be allowed to play/use/take pics/get on social media while on campus once their phone is given to them at the end of the day. Cell phones returned to students at the end of the day will be required to be placed in their school bag immediately upon receiving it from the office staff. Should my child be seen actively using their cell phone after receiving it from the office staff a detention may issued and privileges may be revoked by the administration. *
