OurSpace is dedicated to improve the physical, mental, sexual and social health of young queer people of colour. As such we think think it's important to look at and to fight racism under multiple angles. And one if these angles, we thought, is how young queer people of colour may have internalized and overcome messages of racism.
In OurStories vol. 5, we decided to address this topic through photography.
We ask young queer people of colour to send us a photo - instagram style - and a quote or a few short sentences that represent their struggles, challenges and/or victories with the topic of internalized racism (see examples from another similar project below). These photos and quotes will be shared on our social media, and used as talking point in a big event against internalized racism - to be hosted later this year.
If you are interested in participating in this project, please complete this short questionnaire and one of our volunteers will be in touched with you. By completing this form, you agree to being contacted by OurSpace a maximum of three (3) times (an introductory e-mails and two reminders) in the next month or so.
Photos and quotes will not be linked to any of your personal information and participants do not need to share their name. This project is lead by and organized by young queer people of colour.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to email us at this same email address:
