Thank you for your interest in being a Literacy Volunteer.
**We have a large interest in the program this school year. Priority will be given to previous literacy volunteers when spots open. We welcome new volunteers to sign up, but please know there might not be an opportunity this school year.**
The Literacy Volunteer Program is a program that focuses on improving the reading skills of struggling readers in all Wayzata Public Schools elementary schools. Volunteers listen to and support students as they read aloud from books for 20-30 minutes once a week during the school day. Each student in the program is assigned to one volunteer.
Volunteers will be assigned to a schedule and student by late October. Schedules will be sent by email. Reading will begin the week of November 7 and conclude the first week of May. Volunteer orientation is required for any new volunteers. All volunteers must complete a background check every three years.
