PALMETTO HIGH SCHOOL PARKING PERMIT APPLICATION 2023-2024
Driving to school is a privilege, not a right.  Parking on school property is a courtesy extended to students by the Board of Trustees.  The district and Palmetto High School assume no responsibility for damage to cars or theft of cars or articles from the cars.  Palmetto High School reserves the right to tow any vehicle from campus that is not in compliance with parking regulations.  The owner of the vehicle is responsible for any costs incurred due to towing.
STUDENT PARKING PERMITS
1.  All student vehicles parked on campus must display a valid 2023-2024 parking permit issued by Palmetto High School.

2.  To obtain a parking permit, the student submit a completed application with parent or guardian approval, provide proof of Arrive Alive or Alive@25 completion(one time requirement), present a valid South Carolina driver’s license, and pay a $15.00 permit fee.  (NOTE:  All school fees must be paid in order to obtain a parking permit.)

PARKING REGULATIONS
1.  Students are not allowed to park in the teacher parking lots in front or behind the school, the unnumbered spots in the Freshman Academy parking lot, visitor parking spots, or on any unpaved areas, parking area behind Palmetto Elementary School, or the softball field parking lot.

2.  Each permit will be issued for a specific and numbered parking spot.  Students are not to park in another spot.

3.  Each permit will be issued for the registered vehicle and are not transferable to other vehicles.  Additional permits may be purchased for $2.00 each.

4.  Students will not exchange parking spots or give their permit to another individual.

5.  Parking permits must be properly displayed on the inside, bottom left hand corner of the windshield (driver’s side).

6.  If driving a vehicle other than that which is registered, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the AFJROTC Office for a free temporary permit.  Temporary permits will only be issued to current permit holders and will not exceed 5 school days.

7.  Students must park in their assigned parking space.  Any vehicle parked in an unauthorized space will be issued a parking ticket.  If another car is parked in your space, do not park in another space.  Contact the AFJROTC Office immediately for parking instructions.

8.  Lending a vehicle to another student is not permitted.

9.  There will be no loitering in the parking lot before, during, or after school.  Enter the building immediately upon your arrival and leave the parking lot immediately after school dismissal.

10.  During the school day, students will not return to the parking lot or their vehicles without an administrator’s approval.  

11.  Parking lot speed limit is 10 MPH.

12.  For the safety of Palmetto High School students, reckless driving (speeding, spinning tires, any action deemed reckless) will not be tolerated.  A two-week driving suspension will be issued for the first offense.  Driving privileges will be revoked for a second offense.

13.  Parking regulation violations will result in a $5.00 fine.  Fines must be paid within 3 school days of the issue date.  Failure to pay the fine within the time allotted will result the loss of driving privileges until the fine is paid.  Repeated violations of parking regulations will result in the following actions:
a.  Second violation:  Fine and two week driving suspension.
b.  Third violation:  Fine and driving privileges revoked for the school year.

14.  Driving to school while driving privileges are suspended will result in a suspension from school.

15.  Vehicles may be entered by the administration when they have reasonable suspicion to suspect that there may be violations of district/school policies or laws.  If violations are found,  students and parents notified.

16.  Excessive school/class tardies will result in the loss of driving privileges in increments of 5 school days per occurrence.

17.  Exiting the main student parking lot is RIGHT TURN ONLY from 7:30 to 8:30 am and 2:30 to 3:30 pm.


***Failure to comply with parking regulations will result in fines, loss of parking privileges and other disciplinary actions as prescribed by school administration.***

The student must have completed the Alive@25 or Arrive Alive program (one time requirement). This is a district policy. If the student has not completed either course, the parking permit may not be purchased. For available Alive@25 classes, see http://www.scaliveat25.com/. For available Arrive Alive classes, call (864) 369-5500 and select Option 2 or email Tim Broome at broomet@apps.anderson1.org.   Once the class is completed, the student must provide an electronic or paper copy of the certificate.  Certificate submissions may be emailed to creamerm@apps.anderson1.org or livingstond@apps.anderson1.org.
