Standard 1: Group Discussion-Oral Expression and Listening: I will come to discussions prepared. I will fully engage by listening and asking questions that move the discussion forward.
Standard 2: Genres-Reading for all purposes: I will focus on reading a greater variety of genres. (Some examples could be fiction, nonfiction, mystery, science fiction, biography, poetry, complex literature, stories, and plays.)
Standard 2: Nonfiction-Reading for all purposes: I will read more books that are nonfiction. I will identify main ideas, supporting details, and new vocabulary to understand and interpret text. I will use text features to help me understand.

Goal (Resilience and Grit/Perseverance): I will focus on developing resilience by becoming more adaptable when things don’t go as I had planned and by accepting that change is part of life. I will work on having grit by sticking with things that are important to me and trying to bounce back (persevere) from failures and try again.
Goal (Effort and Motivation): I will focus on taking ownership of my learning with my schoolwork. I will work to do my best on daily work and use my time wisely. I will be motivated to start and complete my work without reminders from the adults in my life. I will take the small steps to reach my goals even when it feels hard.
Goal (Self-advocacy): I will focus on developing my self-advocacy skills by asking the adults in my life for help when I need clarification or don’t understand. I will work on being brave and telling my friends and family what I think and how I feel. Becoming a strong self-advocate will help me grow academically and keep my mental health strong.
Goal (Peer Interactions): I will focus on being a good member of the Bacon community. I will work on being a supportive classmate who works well with peers. I will work hard to be a good friend and group participant. Sometimes, I will lead in groups, but I will also learn to step back and listen to others and let them lead. I will put myself in other people's shoes and work hard to see all points of view.
