Olympia Family Theater is holding general auditions for our 2022-2023 season. We are offering 10-minute audition appointments, one-on-one. We will also accept video submissions: you can choose in-person or video when you fill out our sign up form. In addition to General Auditions, OFT will hold one night of auditions specific to each show in our season.

Auditions will take place:

Tue, July 12 5:30-8:30pm
Wed, July 13 5:30-8:30pm

Once you sign up for an audition you will receive an email confirming your registration and the day of your audition. You will receive your exact time slot 48 hours in advance (please hold the entire 3 hours, but you will only need to be present ~20 minutes).

We are casting for the following productions:

THE SECRET GARDEN written by Mabelle Reynoso, directed by Emily McHugh and assistant directed by Marissa Rivera Bolaños: Sept 30 - Oct 16
We are looking for Latinx/Afrolatinx actors - a few adults and a few youth.

DRAGONS LOVE TACOS by Adam Rubin, directed by Kate Arvin: Nov 4 - Nov 20
We are looking for a youth to play the lead, and a variety of actors who enjoy energetic physical comedy.

SOLSTICE CO-PRODUCTION with String & Shadow Puppet Theater, directed by Luz Gaxiola: Dec 9 - Dec 24
We are looking for actors and youth interested in puppetry, and especially excited to see folks who also play an instrument.

SOMETHING HAPPENED IN OUR TOWN by Cheryl West, directed by Melissa Harris, assistant directed by Jordan Richards: Feb 10 -Feb 26
We are looking for a very diverse cast, including one Black family (parents and two sons) and one white family. We also need a multicultural group of youth to play schoolmates. This play deals with serious content and actors should be ready to have a variety of thoughtful conversations within the creative team about racial justice.

THE GIRL WHO SWALLOWED A CACTUS by Eric Coble, directed by Rebecca Rogers: MAR 17 - APR 2
We are looking for two strong adult actors with experience in physical theater and storytelling. We also need a group of youth.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND (MUSICAL), by Lavinia Roberts, music by Ahmed Alabaca, directed by Lily Raabe: MAY 5 - MAY 21
We are looking for a cast of folks, including youth, with experience in physical theater/movement and an ability to sing.

Prepare for the following in your audition:

A conversation. We want to get an idea of the stories that spark your imagination and how you like to collaborate. What stories do you want to see yourself in? What about these stories draws you in? What questions do you have for us?

A monologue or passage of text from the media of your choice. This could be from a book, play, movie, TV show, or any piece of media where the character speaking has a direct listener in mind. Please keep your selection under one and a half minutes in length.

For video auditions. Prepare an introduction to yourself, the stories that excite you, and how you like to collaborate. Prepare a monologue or passage per the instructions above. Total video time should be less than 5 minutes. When you are done, you can email a link to your video to Katearvin@olyft.org. We recommend uploading your video to Google Drive. Dropbox or private YouTube or Vimeo links are also great. Feel free to email Kate if you need assistance.

------
All experience levels are welcome, and preference will be given to local artists.

Everyone working at Olympia Family Theater is required to be vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination upon hiring. Medical exemptions are allowed on a case by case basis.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Kate Arvin directly via email: katearvin@olyft.org
