Spring Speaker Series with NASA's Prabal Saxena
Prabal Saxena is a Research Space Scientist in the Planetary Geology, Geophysics, and Geochemistry Laboratory at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Prabal works on topics related to detecting and understanding the nature of exoplanets using several different observational methods, understanding lunar surface evolution over time, and also leading instrument development for planetary exploration.

Abstract: The exploration of other planets - whether they are in our solar system or outside of it - is necessarily awash in varied and complicated but highly informative data.  He'll discuss some examples of how data science techniques and approaches have been used to examine and interpret some of that data in different planetary science contexts. He will also talk about existing and upcoming planetary science data that may benefit from data science-driven analysis and briefly discuss potential techniques to conduct such analysis.
