Year 3 Swimming

Dear Parents and Carers,

Year 3 will shortly be starting swimming lessons as part of the PE Curriculum.

Girls should wear a one-piece swimsuit and boys a suitable pair of trunks (not big, surfer style shorts).  Please remember to pack a towel.  All the children must wear a swimming hat which can be purchased from the office, leisure centres or online if you don’t have one. Please ensure your child remembers their kit each week as well as their swimming hat as they will not be allowed to swim without it.

It would be really helpful if your child could practise putting their swimming hats on independently over the next few weeks, as it takes quite a long time to help a whole group to do this! A light dusting of talcum powder on the inside is a good tip and long hair in a plait also helps. Girls who wear tights sometimes struggle to put them back on after swimming, so it might be easier for them to bring some socks to change into to go home in, if it’s not too cold. If your child prefers to wear goggles in the pool, please ensure that they have been taught at home how to put them on and take them off by themselves.

Please complete the attached Google Form asap so that we may group the children according to their ability. Once groups are arranged, we will confirm which day your child will swim on.

We do hope the children will enjoy their time in the pool. If you have any queries, please contact the office, speak to your class teacher or to myself, who will be teaching both classes this year.

Yours sincerely

Mrs. Coffey
