NOLA to Angola 2022 Registration
Thank you for your interest in riding and fundraising for Nola to Angola!

***Registration is now closed, but you can use the form below to sign up for the wait list.***

This year the ride will be 1 day, in person bike ride on Saturday October 15th. If there is sufficient interest, we will also sponsor a bus trip to visit the Angola Prison craft fair the following day, Sunday, October 16.

Join us in riding up the levee towards Angola. We will offer four different distance options for people (5, 15, 30, and 55 miles). For those riding past stop 1, snacks and lunch and a ride back to New Orleans will be provided. We will be following up with more info about logistics as the ride gets closer.

All miles biked are in solidarity with people who have to travel long distances to visit their loved ones who are incarcerated. This year, all fundraising proceeds will go directly to The First 72+ Housing Voucher Program to provide housing funding for community members returning home from incarceration. We ask everyone to raise $300 but scholarships are available and no one will be turned away due to an inability to fundraise the full amount.

We also request a sliding scale ($30-$60) registration fee to cover our expenses so that all proceeds can go to the First 72+ housing voucher program. However, scholarships are available to cover this fee as well if you are unable to pay.

**Please note that registration will be done by a lottery system this year, with priority given to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and people directly affected by incarceration. By completing this form, you are adding your name to the lottery. The lottery will be drawn on September 1st**

We have created different distance options for folks in order to accommodate a range of needs and interests. If you join us for the first 5 miles (to the levee at Oak St) we ask that you ride, or find your own way back to the Courthouse. If you ride to River Town, the Spillway or to the St James Boat Club we will provide transportation back to New Orleans for both you and your bike. What distance would you like to ride? *
We have a sliding scale registration fee. Please indicate how much you are able to pay below. (Registration fees go towards: food, printing the maps and posters, bike rental support and transportation). *
We also offer scholarships for people who are unable to cover the fundraising requirement ($300). Please indicate if you are interested in a scholarship to waive the fundraising requirement. (Please note no one will be turned away due to an inability to fundraise the full amount) *
We acknowledge that mass incarceration is one of many systems of oppression that disproportionately affects Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. NOLA to Angola offers priority registration to BIPOC folks, in hopes of building a space that chips away at these barriers. Please indicate your race below. (Leave blank if you prefer not to say.)
Nola to Angola provides priority registration to people directly impacted by incarceration. We define “directly impacted" as: you, or a family member/loved one, have been incarcerated for months or years. Please indicate the statement below that best describes you. *
Nola to Angola is working on potentially borrowing some cruiser bikes from local bike companies. If possible, would you be interested in a loaner bike to use for the day?  *
While a distance bike ride will never be accessible to all people of all abilities, we would like to make Nola to Angola as accessible as possible.  If you need more information about accessibility, or if you would like to request accommodations to participate in the ride, please indicate your request below and an organizer will follow up with you. We will make every effort to provide accommodations within the limits of our resources. (For example, accommodations might include: using a modified bike, interpreting services, planned check-ins with medic, etc. )

If there is sufficient interest, on Sunday 10/16 we will be coordinating a bus to transport people to the craft fair at Angola Prison. You would purchase your own $20 craft fair ticket, and we would ask for a sliding scale contributions for the cost of the bus (no one would be turned away for lack of funds). Are you interested in attending? Find more info here: link: http://www.angolarodeo.com/?q=Tickets *
