Next year, alongside our programme of training programmes and twilights, we are also keen to work with schools, MATs and TSAs to co-construct more bespoke training/ support, that matches your improvement priorities. This ensures that you can use our expertise in the areas of educational and cognitive science research to address your specific needs - in terms of not only what the most relevant research is, but also how to implement it effectively.
Here are some of the themes we have worked with schools on this year, to give you an idea of where we could support:
•
Creating a coherent and evidence informed approach for curriculum, teaching and assessment.
•
What does the research say about metacognition and how can it be applied in the classroom?
•
Improving long term memory retention.
•
Improving attendance and behaviour.
•
Closing the literacy gap using explicit vocabulary instruction.
•
Improving the performance of disadvantaged students.
•
What does the research evidence say about great teaching?
•
Addressing gender underperformance.
•
Improving the outcomes of high attaining students.
•
Unpicking formative and summative assessment.
•
Improving the quality of feedback in schools.
•
Effective explanation, questioning and modelling.
•
How can leaders implement change most effectively?
This list is by no means exhaustive. What we are really keen to do next year is to understand the issues that you are trying to tackle in your school and work with you to build and deliver a tailor made training package for you. If this is something you would be interested in, please complete and submit this form and a member of the Research School team will contact you to discuss the details, including costs.
