Grade 6, 2020-2021 School Year
Dear Parents/Guardians of 2020-21 Sixth Graders,

We at Jefferson are proud of our school and our students!  We look forward to meeting you, and we welcome you to the Jefferson family where we hold the following expectations:

Jefferson utilizes a “Standards Based, Data Driven” approach to become:
Academically Excellent
Developmentally Appropriate
Socially Equitable

Sixth graders take two types of classes at Jefferson.  First, Academic Block classes cover the core curriculum.  All of these classes, which are listed below, are required.  Students will be assigned to these classes over the summer based on individual needs.  Secondly, Related Arts classes provide some student/family choice.  These classes are listed on the back of this form and will be assigned based on individual selections.
As your student, his/her teachers, and you consider course selections, please complete this form by April 6, 2020.  We expect great things in our school next year.  Thanks for allowing us to serve your family!

Sincerely,

Principal Nick Sharin

Related Arts Elective Classes
Our sixth grade Related Arts program is designed to provide student and family choice in elective classes.  Students who wish to continue their study of instrumental or vocal music may do so, but music is not a requirement at Jefferson Middle School.  All sixth grade students are required to take physical education; this course will be added automatically to student schedules.

If you are interested in music, you need to complete the music questions. All students need to complete the ranking section (the last 4 questions).  Related Arts classes for sixth grade meet on an alternate day schedule.
