Thank you for your interest in the Alternative Physical Education Leadership Program for the 2021-2022 & 2022-2023 school years. The Stevenson leader program is a 2-year program. Alternative PE is for students who need modifications in their physical education class. The students who take this class and these students that the Alternative PE leaders will be working with, may have a range of permanent or temporary disabilities and injuries. Theses problems may be physical, emotional, cognitive or a combination of these. The purpose of the Alternative PE leadership program is to prepare students in becoming effective teacher aides and strong leaders. Individuals applying must be willing to work one-to-one and or in small group environments with other students. Alternative PE is only offered 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th periods. Leaders may need to rearrange their academic schedule to accommodate this class based on acceptance and period placement. The APE classes swim several days throughout the semester and leaders are required to be in the pool during these days.
Students receive a letter grade on their G.P.A. for this course.
The application process also includes a short 5-10 minute interview to assist us in making our selection.
The application should be submitted no later than 3:30 pm on Friday December 18th.
The accepted applicants will be e-mailed regarding their status of acceptance.
