Evidence-giving in mini-publics: A survey
Hello there!

Have you ever been asked to provide evidence to inform a mini-public? Or are you a practitioner who has sought to recruit evidence givers? If yes to either, we would like to hear from you, and so invite you to complete this short survey.

The survey is part of a research project that is exploring how to improve diversity in expert fora – particularly in democratic innovations like mini-publics. This is prompted by our observation that evidence-givers in mini-publics held on environmental topics are not gender diverse (see Roberts & Lightbody, 2017). We want to find out whether gender imbalance and other diversity indicators is the case for other topics, too, and if so, why, and what can be done to lower the barriers to participation as evidence-givers - for women, and for everyone. Your views and experiences will help with this work, and so we would be really grateful for whatever reflections you can share.

Depending on your answer choices, there will be a maximum of three sections to this survey; there is one longer qualitative section, and some additional short sections have only short multiple-choice questions. You do not need to answer all the questions, but please make sure that you reach and press the "submit" button, else your reflections will not be gathered.

The survey is anonymous. At the end of the survey there is the option for you to provide your name and contact email should you wish (for research follow up, or to be informed of research outcomes). The survey data itself will be anonymous, and will be stored securely in line with the Data Protection Act (2018)

Should you have any questions, our contact information is provided at the end of the survey.

The survey will be open until the 18th October.
