As part of the NJYS String Quartet Chamber Camp, young musicians will have an opportunity to refine their artistic skills and interact with other chamber musicians. All participants will be offered daily coaching by the string faculty and a self guided rehearsal. We will evaluate applications as they are received on a rolling basis. Eligible students are strongly encouraged to form their own chamber group prior to applying. If you already have a pre-formed quartet or trio and all members meet the eligibility requirements, then we will honor your ensemble/admit your
ensemble to the camp.
Eligibility: Current 9th – 12th Graders who meet the following requirements:
• Current (Season 2022-23) NJYS Youth Symphony and Youth Orchestra string players (no additional audition required);
• Current NJYS students who have auditioned for levels 5 & 6 for the upcoming Season 2023-24 (no additional audition required*);
• Non-NJYS students: must submit a video audition. See requirements below.
*Your audition for the upcoming season will be used to determine your
acceptance into the String Chamber Music Camp.
Apply below. NJYS will determine if groups can be formed based on the number of enrolled students. Video Audition Submission: Students not currently members in NJYS must submit a video audition with a solo piece of the student’s choice (minimum NJYS Levels 5 or 6), and send the unlisted YouTube video by email to info@njys.org. Audition videos for Camp will have no implications on your placement for the next NJYS season.
