As a student of the Wiregrass Regional College and Career Academy, I understand it is my duty to behave in a courteous and ethical manner at all times. The attitudes and habits I develop as a student form the core of my professional behavior. As such, I will set an example of the highest quality for those who work with me. I will use the principles of honesty, integrity, respect and professionalism as my personal, academic and professional guide.

HONESTY:

● I understand the Coffee County Schools policies on academic and behavioral conduct, and will practice them as part of my life. This means I will not engage in plagiarism or use the ideas of others and declare them as my own, nor will I steal.

● I will honor my personal obligation to be sincere and forthright by dealing fairly and truthfully with others. This means I will not intentionally lie or provide false information in an attempt to mislead others, nor will I act dishonestly in order to gain an unfair advantage over others.

INTEGRITY:

● I will maintain the beliefs and values of the Wiregrass Regional College and Career Academy despite changing circumstances and challenging environments. This means I will stand up for the values and expectations addressed in this code, even when it may be unpopular or intimidating.

● I will respect my reputation and that of my school by avoiding unethical behaviors and the circumstances that encourage them. This means I will use technology in a responsible manner, will not talk about others in unflattering ways behind their backs, nor will I spread rumors or talk about the private lives of others. I will accept responsibility when I have been wrong and will provide a sincere apology when in order.

RESPECT:

● I will embrace the diverse perspectives and accomplishments of others, and will be sensitive to those with special needs and language differences, knowing that it is the personal and cultural variations among people that enrich us individually as a society. This means I will participate in thoughtful and meaningful dialogue with others, while avoiding profanity, or acting or speaking with malicious intent.

● I will take pride in my school by protecting our facilities and its surroundings. This means I will properly dispose of trash and unwanted items, and I will keep a clean and orderly work area and school environment.

PROFESSIONALISM:

● I will maintain the highest standards of performance, conduct, and cooperation with other students, staff, and the community. This means I will respect the privacy and confidentiality of others while embracing the concept of hospitality towards all.

● I will perform my duties with due diligence and make a continuous effort towards improvement. This means I will complete all work tasks and class assignments in their entirety, on-time, and to the best of my ability. Once I have completed a task, I will show initiative and seek out additional responsibilities. I will also come to school and work when scheduled, except in cases of substantial illness or extenuating circumstances.

DISCIPLINE/BEHAVIORAL

I will obey and follow the instructions of any and all staff members while at school.

I will not cause ANY disturbance in class, on school campus, or on the school bus.

I will not leave class or school campus without permission.

I will not use profanity or act disrespectfully to my faculty, staff, or peers.

I will abide by and obey all rules and regulations as set forth by WRCCA and by the Board of Trustees of Wiregrass Regional College & Career Academy.

I will abide by the guidelines of the dress code for the Coffee County School District.

Wiregrass Regional College and Career Academy will be a school where all students can feel safe. Students engaging in physical violence (fighting) with the intent of harming others will not be allowed to remain at WRCCA.
