Be a witness to history!  Coronavirus / COVID-19
History isn't just what happened before we were born - we are living it today. Others will look back and learn from us - they will be better equipped to understand where they are from knowing where we had been. This is why it is so important to begin recording Trenton's present history so that our present community is not forgotten.

The Trentoniana Department of the Trenton Free Public Library wants to record your witness to history during this Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. We have created a way in which you can tell us what you are experiencing. Tell us your feelings, what you are seeing around you, what you are doing, and what effect this is having on you, your family and your neighbors. Please answer those questions you wish to answer, in any form you feel comfortable whether as direct text answers to the questions or as poetry, artwork, photographs, or something else. We also want to see images of what is happening around you, in your home, in your community. At the end of the survey is an email to send files. Feel free to come back in a few weeks or months and record your experiences again.

We will preserve these responses in our archives and, with your permission, share them now and in the future. You don't need a Google account to answer these questions - Thank you for participating!

What were your thoughts when the first COVID-19 cases were being diagnosed in China at the end of 2019 with the possible spread to the United States?

How did your behavior change since the media first started reporting the spread? Did you continue your everyday activities? Did you start stockpiling groceries? Did you start washing your hands more frequently? Did you start avoiding people?
How did life change for you and/or your family during the outbreak? Did you have/know children who needed to do schoolwork from home, and how did you/they deal with that?  
Are you a business owner who had to close? If you remained open, how did you have to adjust how your business operated? Were you an employee who was laid off or did you start working from home? If you are still working, what precautions are/were being taken?
What did you notice in your community that changed since the outbreak? What has surprised you most?
What is the worst thing about this? Are there any good things in what has happened (spending more time with family, catching up on tasks around the house, reading, doing projects, etc.)?
What are your thoughts on the vaccines that are being made available? Have you gotten one? Why or why not? If you have received your vaccine, how was that experience?
When do you think this will be over and things will be back to “normal”?
It is the year 2050 and another pandemic is looming – what would you tell someone who has just asked you about the 2020 pandemic? How would you suggest they handle what is about to come? What did officials/community/you do that those in 2050 might consider doing differently?
