2023 HIRING TIMELINE:
  • We are currently hiring for both summer and the upcoming fall semester. You can apply now and starting reporting over the summer OR you can apply now but wait until the fall semester starts up to begin reporting -- just indicate which semester you want to start in the last question.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DISCLAIMER: After being selected to join the Wildcat you will be required to complete a 3-4 week training program, as well as general assignment work before being assigned to a desk and beat(s). Being a part of the Wildcat does require a time commitment, not unlike a part-time job. You will be expected to join and participate in weekly desk meetings, work on one if not more than one story at a time, and dedicate multiple hours per week to engage with editors, sources, and fellow reporters.

THIS IS NOT A CLUB. This is treated as more of a job/internship. There is also the opportunity to become a paid employee. Typically, after a new reporter finishes a few initial stories after training, they then have the opportunity to get paid $10 per story they publish with the Daily Wildcat!

If you have any questions, email Editor-in-Chief JT Thorpe at jtthorpe@dailywildcat.com. If selected as a candidate, you will be contacted with more information

If you have none, please say so, that's what training is for!

If hired, you will be contacted by someone from the Daily Wildcat and most likely via email to join our Slack workspace. You will be expected to respond in a timely manner.

Is this an expectation you can meet?

If you do miss a hiring round for whatever reason or choose not to join at this time, please feel free to apply again in the future!
*
Which semester(s) are you interested in joining us in?

If you indicate that you are interested in working over the summer, you will be expected to write articles over summer (not a lot, but at least some).

If you have a pretty free summer, this is a great time to grow your reporting skills and get as many published stories as you can!
