How to Succeed in Math Lab

All students have the ability to succeed in Math.  It just requires a commitment to paying attention, making an effort on every assignment, turning in work on time, and re-doing any work or test that had a low score.

This class is designed to help students understand math concepts, be more efficient at math procedures, and get help in the areas where they are having difficulties.

To get a good grade you need to:

  • Turn in all assignments on time.

This includes math lab assignments and your math class assignments.  Part of your grade in math lab is based on how few missing assignments you have in your regular math class.

  • Try to do every problem and show your work.

The other part of your grade for this class is based on how well you work and participate in this class.  Showing all the steps of your work is the only way for the teacher to help you identify where you are making mistakes.

  • Never give up!

Remember even a wrong answer is a step in the right direction because you are trying.  “I don’t know” is never acceptable answer in this class.

Citizenship

Citizenship grades are given according to the number of tardies or infractions of the school and class rules.

H = No infractions      S = 1 or 2 infractions      N = 3 or 4 infractions      U = 5 or more infractions

*Please note that Safe School Policy infractions will be immediately referred to the administration.

The most important rule is to show RESPECT to the teacher, other students and yourself, but here are few other to remember:

  • Be in your seat with your materials, ready to work, before the bell has finished ringing.

  • Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.  If it’s not yours don’t touch it.

  • Follow instructions the first time they are given.

  • Do not leave your seat without permission.

  • Do your own work and turn it in on time.

  • Backpack and other bags are not allowed in the classrooms.

  • No food or drinks are allowed.

  • Make-up, cologne, hairspray, cell phones, fidget spinners, toys, or any other objects that distract from schoolwork are not allowed in class.

  • No horseplay, hitting, or other physical contact.
