Colorado Parks and Wildlife Youth Mentored Hunt Application- Big Game, Small Game, and Waterfowl
Eligibility Requirements: Please read the eligibility requirements thoroughly before applying for a hunt.

1) Applicant must have completed a Hunter Education Course.
     * Apprentice Hunter Certificates will NOT be accepted.

2) Hunters must be a youth 17 years of age or younger.  For big game hunts, youth must be between the ages of 12 and 17 at the time of the hunt.

3) License Requirements: If selected for a hunt, you will be notified how to purchase the proper license.
     *Big Game Licenses- The program typically uses a special license voucher that will be provided to you after accepting a hunt invitation that you will use to purchase the hunting license prior to the hunt.  The cost of the license is the same as a regular youth big game license.  If you have already purchased a big game license for the same species, let your coordinator know in case there are any issues with List A, B, or C status.
     *Small Game- Participants must purchase a youth small game license and obtain a HIP # from colohip.com.  The HIP # must be written on the hunter's license.  
     *Waterfowl- Participants must purchase a small game license and obtain a HIP # from colohip.com.  The HIP # must be written on the hunter's license.  In addition, waterfowl hunters aged 16 and older must purchase the State and Federal Waterfowl Stamps.
   
4) Firearm Requirements: Rifles or Shotguns that meet legal requirements.  Hunters should expect to provide the proper ammunition for the hunt.
     * Shotguns capable of holding more than three shells must be plugged.  
     * While we encourage participants to provide their own firearm and practice at the range prior to a hunt, CPW may be able to loan out a firearm on a mentored hunt.
     *It is highly unlikely that CPW Hunter Outreach Program offers an archery hunt.

5) Participants are expected to remain at the hunt site for the full duration of the event.  CPW Hunter Outreach offers multiple mentored hunts ranging from 2-3 days to a single day.  If you are selected for a mentored hunt, you will be provided the dates, location, and basic plan for the hunt.  If you accept, the hunt coordinator will contact you with more details on the hunt.  A parent, or approved guardian, must be present with the youth on the hunt.  The parent or guardian should not expect to hunt, but should participate and learn throughout the event.

6) The applicant must agree to participate in post event surveys which allow Colorado Parks and Wildlife to improve our outreach program.

7) Priority will be given to applicants who are new to hunting and whose family/friends are new to hunting.
     * Hunting history may be verified by the Hunter Outreach Coordinator.
     * Due to limited hunt opportunities, not everyone that applies will receive a hunt invitation.

8) If you have participated in a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Hunter Outreach Program's Youth Big Game Hunt in the past, you are NOT eligible to apply for a second big game hunt.  You may apply for small game or waterfowl.

9) CPW Hunter Outreach typically receives more youth applications than we have hunts available, so not all applicants will be offered a hunt invitation.  Hunt invitations may begin in late August and continue through October and November (for later season hunts).  If you mark "Yes" in a question below to allow CPW Hunter Outreach to contact you, we will notify you of additional hunter outreach seminars and clinics for this upcoming year.
