The NSO will be offering a 5-week series that will prepare participants to tackle major applications for postgraduate scholarships, including the Fulbright U.S. Student program, the Rhodes Scholarship, the Marshall Scholarship, the Mitchell Scholarship, the Gates Cambridge Scholarship, the Schwarzman Scholars Program, the Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program, and more!
Led by the NSO staff, participants will explore themes and ideas central to all applications, as well as learn how to approach major application components, such as essays, letters of recommendation, and resumes. The series will meet for 2 hours, once a week for five weeks (see schedule below). Each session will be interactive, and participants will be expected to take an active role in discussion and writing exercises, as well as to come prepared with any assigned homework completed.
**The success of this series will very much depend on your attendance and active participation!**
Please use the form below to register for the workshop series. We intend to offer two meeting times each week: Fridays from 12-2pm (Feb 19-March 19) and Sundays from 1-3pm (Feb 21-March 21). We will only run a workshop at a given time if we have at least 10 people registered for that time. **PLEASE NOTE: Our expectation is that you will commit to attending all five sessions. We understand that sometimes things come up and you may need to miss or meet with the other session in a given week, but please register with the intention of being present for the full series.
We are excited to offer this series and to work with you this spring! Please email Dr. Sisson (
mrsisson@vcu.edu) with any questions.
