Clifton ISD is looking for individuals who are interesting in serving on district and campus committees throughout the school year. Stakeholder input is important to our district as we continue to build and refine the practices, policies and education of our students and community.
  • Site-Based Committees (District & Campus) -  Site-based decision making (SBDM) now involves input from many who are closely involved at the student level. Comprised of: • Professional staff  • Parents of students enrolled in the district  • Community members  • Business and industry representatives

  • School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) - Members of the SHAC come from different areas of the community and from within the school district. The majority of members must be parents who are not employed by the district. Sources of SHAC Members (as stated in TEC Section 28.004) • Parents of students in the district who are not employed by the district (majority of the members-required by law) • District Students • Public School Teachers • Public School Administrators • Health Care Professionals • Business Community Members • Law Enforcement Personnel • Senior Citizens • Clergy Members • Nonprofit Health Organizations • Local Domestic Violence Programs Other Sources of SHAC Members • Media (e.g., local newspapers, local radio/TV stations and local print media) • Social Service Agencies • Public Health Agencies • Hospitals and Clinics • Civic and Service Organizations • Colleges and Universities • Youth Groups • Professional Societies • Housing Authorities • Before and After School Organizations • Other Faith Community Leaders

  • Safety & Security Committee - The committee, to the greatest extent practical, must include:
    • One or more representatives of an office of emergency management of a county or city in which the district is located.
    • One or more representatives of the local police department or sheriff’s office.
    • One or more representatives of the district’s police department, if applicable.
    • The president of the district’s board of trustees.
    • A member of the district’s board of trustees, other than the president.
    • The district’s superintendent.
    • One or more designees of the district’s superintendent, one of whom must be a classroom teacher in the district.
    • If the district partners with an open-enrollment charter school to provide instruction to students, a member of the open-enrollment charter school’s governing body or a designee of the governing body.
    • Two parents or guardians of students enrolled in the district.

    Collaborative partners to support the committee may include, but are not limited to:

    • Local emergency management
    • First responders, law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services (EMS)
    • Local, state, and federal officials
    • Parent organizations
    • Local health authority
    • Community mental health organizations
    • Building inspectors or public works
