Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for signing up to help out! Y'all are amazing people! Please remember this is strictly on a
volunteer basis and you do not have to do anything you are no comfortable with.
What you will be doing: helping residents/attending physicians working long hours with any household issues, chores, pet care, groceries etc
**Volunteers should not volunteer for any in-person opportunity if they have a known exposure within the past 14 days or are symptomatic
Disclaimers:
Affiliation: Please know this is not affiliated to WSUSOM in anyway. The school assumes no liability for anything. If you take on a task, please know you’re taking this on a personal liability.
Voluntary: This is a strictly voluntary program. You will not be punished for refusing or taking on a task. You can excuse yourself from anything at any time. Please try and give us as advance a warning as possible so we’re not leaving anyone in the lurch!
Compensation: Many families would like to compensate students for their time. When we reach out to ask if you’re available we will tell you if the family would like to compensate you. However, we cannot coordinate or negotiate this for you. You will personally handle that with the family/physician.
Future Evals: If you work with a resident or attending, they cannot evaluate you on a core evaluation. This doesn’t mean you can’t work on research or build a connection in a different way.
COVID exposures: If you are sick, have any symptoms or believe you were exposed and are within the incubation period, please don’t do tasks. If your status changes, please let us know.
Executive order: childcare is an essential task, especially as the physicians we are assisting are essential personnel who cannot do their essential duties if their children are unattended. The other tasks are considered essential as well. I’ve reached out to receive a concrete answer from the state and should we be ordered to discontinue the program, we will.
I am sure people will not abuse it!
