Imagining Meaningful Representation Workshop with Betty Rao
What: A 90-minute interactive discussion group led by Chao-Ying (Betty) Rao. Betty will speak about trying to grapple with the vast disjunct that often occur between academic theory and lived experience. Citing the weekends she used to spend working at the strip club and the weekdays spent discussing and studying the philosophy of feminism in relation to sex work, she will trace her journey through how she started pushing for social change. She doesn’t have all the answers yet, but we will try and work through them together to bridge the gap between theory and speculation, to lived and material reality.
