ALL DANCERS, MUSICIANS, ACOTRS, WORDSMITHS, COMICS, FILM-MAKERS and INTERDISCIPLINARY ARTISTS OF ALL AGES WANTED
for STH's informal, shared showcase series in their newest WHEELHOUSE THEATRE (formerly called STH's SALON Showcase Series).
After the closing of STH's Gowanus Arts Annex on Butler Street in June 2023, most of STH's upcoming 2023/24 concerts, performances, classes, rehearsals, art exhibits and special community events will be held under one roof, at the STH Re:Creation Center, 748 Union Street (near 6th Avenue) in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Performing, word, and cinematic artists of all stripes, ages and stages of their careers are encouraged to apply to present a brand new work, a revived work, an excerpt of a new or old work, or a work-in-progress
on this informal mixed variety show. Both wildly experimental and traditional work is welcome.
- Generally, 4-6 artists share each program and works generally range from 5-20 minutes running time. Work must be portable with minimal set-up and clear-off time.
- Showcases will be held on Friday and/or Saturday evenings at 7:30pm . Tiered audience seating holds 35-45 guests. Admission is $20 online in advance, $35 cash or PayPal at the door. Refreshments are available for purchase.
- STH creates publicity graphic, conducts online advanced ticket sales, provides performance space, basic sound and lighting capabilities, refreshments and a downstairs dressing area/warm-up studio, plus a sound/light board operator and box offfice/front of house staff.
- STH provides giant TV monitor for screening films. Film-makers provide their own laptops with HDMI portal to run their films off of. Film-makers or a representative must be present at live show.
- Yes, you can apply to be on an unlimited number of showcases. Yes, applications are accepted throughout the year. Yes, you can present more than one work on a program. No, there is currently no money involved at this time.
