EMPOWERING WOMEN’S VOICES

3:00 PM — 6:00 PM Pacific Time

Join on the hour for one, two, or three hours.
Check your timezone here and sign up below.

CMSC Circles of Practice Public Offering is honored to bring you this very special event to celebrate women around the world. This is a safe refuge and an opportunity for all self-identified women to come together as a global community to practice self-compassion, feel connected, and empowered. It is important for us to wholeheartedly welcome self-identified LGBTQIAP2S+ women/womxn and acknowledge their courage and historical contributions despite experiencing gender-related marginalization and social inequities. No experience with meditation is required.

You can sign up to attend a single session or stay for all three. We ask that you stay in loving silence throughout the duration of this silent retreat. All participants are asked to please stay muted. You will have the option to use the chat box in between sessions to share words of inspiration and gratitude.

Here is the retreat schedule (3:00 pm - 6:00 pm PT):

Introduction — Laila Narsi, LCSW, Circles of Practice Co-Coordinator, Host

3:00 pm PT – Retreat session led by CMSC Co-Founder Kristin Neff

4:00 pm PT – Retreat session led by Sydney Spears, PhD, CMSC DEIB Director

About Your Teachers

Laila Narsi, LCSW, CMMT, CMT-P, is the Co-Coordinator for the CMSC Circles of Practice Public Offering as well as a Certified Mindful Self-Compassion teacher receiving her training directly from founders Drs. Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer in 2014. Kristin Neff, PhD, is co-founder of CMSC and co-developer of MSC, an MSC Teacher and Teacher Trainer leading intensives and workshops around the world. She is a pioneer in the field of self-compassion research, being the first person to operationally define and measure the construct.  She has published widely including numerous academic articles, book chapters and the popular books Self-Compassion and Fierce Self-Compassion.  Kristin’s work has received extensive media coverage, including the New York Times, MSNBC, National Public Radio, Scientific American, and Psychology Today.

Sydney Spears, PhD, LCSW is a certified Mindful-Self Compassion teacher and Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging for the Center of Mindful Self-Compassion. She also works part-time at the University of Kansas-School of Social Welfare specializing in teaching diversity, anti-oppression, social justice and clinical social work courses. Sydney has deep passion for advancing social equity for racialized people and all other underserved populations experiencing systemic injustices.

Angelike Dexter, JD
Angelike Dexter is a former lawyer and Certified Mindful Self Compassion teacher based in Los Angeles. She currently teaches mindfulness and MSC to kids and adults in Los Angeles in all manner of settings, including public and private schools, camps, and community centers. Angelike’s approach to teaching — and to life — is to be “warm, thoughtful, and to give people a sense of what it feels like to be treated mindfully, respectfully, and lovingly.” She says that remembering to find joy in your life is a most essential mindfulness practice, and that “laughter together, especially as a family, is key.”
