Opportunity Knocks...
Our goal should be to get back in the water better swimmers than when this forced break started. You owe it to yourself first, and to your teammates as well, to be ready to go as soon as we can get back together!
Our dryland sessions have been pretty fun, and I can see kids working pretty hard, which is great. Now, let's also take advantage of the extra time you have on your hands to improve as a swimmer - yes, it can be done even though we're not in the water, but you are the only one who can do it for you!
Oh, and I also have some non-swimming related interests as well..

How many online workouts did you attend this week? *
Did you do any other type of physical activity this week? If so, what, for how long, and on a scale of 1-10 (1 being pretty light and 10 being super intense), how intense was it? *
Other than dryland workouts, have you done anything else to improve as a swimmer during this week? If so, please let me know what.
Alright, if by now you have yet to watch any swimming racing videos, go to YouTube RIGHT NOW, search for your favorite stroke or swimmer, or just search "swimming Rio 2016" or "swimming London 2012", and watch at least 1 race! Let me know which one you watched!
Switching to Backstroke this week! Two videos of Backstroke to follow:
How many/which Stroke Checklist points can you identify in those video? Just write them down, and anything else you think they are doing right (or wrong?).
USA-Swimming had a great, short article this week about this being a great time to work on your mindset. Read it and let me know what you think and how you plan to work on your mindset in the next couple weeks. https://www.usaswimming.org/news-landing-page/2020/04/17/there-has-never-been-a-better-time-to-work-on-your-mindset *
It's been great to see everyone on the Zoom workouts, but one of the things I miss the most is being able to interact with you guys in person, and being able to chat about things that are not swimming or workout related (even the most silly ones). So, if you feel like, tell me some stories you would have shared in person - I'm all ears (or eyes)! *
Two Bonuses this week! First, lest you start thinking I only like old music (I kind of do), here's a video from a band that released last year, and they are awesome!
Any comments on the song (or the video)?
And Bonus #2: for those of you Minecraft fanatics, here's a video of a guy pretty much doing it in real life! I can think of a couple of you that could probably try something like this in your parents' backyards - just don't tell them it was my idea!!! (ps: I actually recommend watching this video in 2x speed; it makes it even more fun to watch, and the video is sort of long anyways)
Any comments on that?
