The symposium will be hybrid, with a virtual and in-person co-occurring.
OBJECTIVES
In conjunction with the International Zero Waste Month, a symposium is proposed to gather updated knowledge on waste-to-energy (WTE) incineration in Asia-Pacific and Europe and how this knowledge can inform Malaysia’s waste management policy and future.
The main aim is to debunk WTE and promote sustainable consumption and production including zero-waste initiatives.
The Symposium is co-organized by Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA), the Consumers’ Association of Penang (CAP) and Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM), and supported by other GAIA members in Malaysia, environmental NGOs, volunteers and communities fighting incinerator proposals.
