*This is a volunteer position and no financial compensation will be offered. While not guaranteed, volunteers may be invited to attend free industry workshops alongside mentees during the mentees' PBChat mentorship period.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The PBChat Mentorship Ambassador will represent PBChat positively and help to promote awareness of the program and its various initiatives, including bi-weekly chats, contest, scholarship opportunities, contests, and most importantly, the annual PBChat Mentorship program.
VOLUNTEER DATES: May 2022 - May 2023. Selected candidate may reapply for same position the following year.
SEEKING:
A great hype person! Someone who: 1) Has a love and enthusiasm for PBChat, children's literature (especially picture books), and the overall writing community 2) Is an active member of the PBChat community 3) Has an established online presence, especially via Twitter, and possesses an overall confidence utilizing social media 4) Has excellent verbal and communication skills 5) Excellent at building and nurturing relationships 6) Open to feedback 7) Professional

While PBChat is not an SCBWI-affiliated event, we operate using the SCBWI Anti-Harassment Policy (

DUTIES INCLUDE:
1) Promoting awareness of the PBChat community/program and its various initiatives, including bi-weekly chats, contests, scholarship opportunities, contests, and most importantly, the annual PBChat Mentorship program via social media and other virtual and in-person outlets.
2) Responding to (within reason) questions, concerns, thoughts, and/or ideas virtually and in-person (when applicable) regarding the PBChat community/program and various initiatives briefly mentioned above.
3) Acting as a channel/liaison between the overall PBChat community and Justin.
4) Helping generate and facilitate new PBChat opportunities and ventures, including outreach geared toward educators, librarians, and young readers, especially those of marginalized communities.
6) Meeting with Justin and other PBChat volunteers on a monthly basis via Zoom to check in, share updates, brain storm, and create plans of action.
