Please join us for this interactive workshop by Artist in Residence Kate Ladenheim in collaboration with Barnard College Professor Elisa Davis’ Designing Immersive Performance class!
Join choreographer, media designer, creative technologist, and Movement Lab Artist in Residence, Kate Ladenheim in making choreographies for 3d avatars. In this workshop, you'll learn how to animate digital avatars by stringing together "stock" motion clips available for free online. that you can use in 3d animation, AR & VR. Alongside this hands-on technology, we'll also consider: what motions communicate “normalcy”? What avatars are expected to perform what "stock" motions? What kinds of biases do these assumptions reveal?
The event will take place on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023 from 11:40am - 12:55 pm (during Elisa Davis’ Designing Immersive Performance class).
All attendees must bring a laptop with Unity pre-installed. Students can choose to use the personal license (free) or sign up to get an educational license - either will allow them to participate fully. Please email movement@barnard.edu if you have any concerns or run into any problems with install.
