Dr. Beverly J. Robinson Community Folk Culture Program Internship Application Summer 2024


Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center in the Northeast Bronx conducts classes for children, teens and adults in music, dance, theater, martial arts, Pre-K and community folk culture studies. We are recruiting now for an exciting paid internship program in the Dr. Beverly J. Robinson Community Folk Culture Program. The summer internship program is open to ages 14-21.  Applicants must submit this form by April 29th (original deadline was April 15**). ** THE APPLICATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO APRIL 29th. 

Through this special paid internship opportunity:

  • Learn to interview & document masterful artists, craft artisans, tradition-bearers, & community members
  • Sharpen skills in photography, videography & community research
  • Work with program team to produce public presentations that share exciting performances, cultural traditions and history with youth and community audiences of all ages
  • Take trips to cultural events, art galleries, museums & more
  • Connect with other youth to share arts, style, and culture

New participants will receive a $500 and returning interns will receive $600 or more upon successful completion of the 5-week internship program. The full stipend is based on interns' attendance, participation, punctuality, and completion of all assignments.

Please submit completed applications by 11:59pm on April 29th. Attach any related video clips when prompted in the application.

Upon the review of submitted applications, finalists will be invited to participate in an interview. Decisions regarding acceptance into the program will be announced by May 15th. 

The summer program runs for 5 weeks, from July 10th through August 10th on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am – 3:30pm (students MUST attend 3 days per week) at:

Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center, 3415 Olinville Avenue, Bronx, NY 10467 (Near Gun Hill Rd & White Plains Rd, Near #2, #5 Train And #41, #55, #38 And #28 Buses).

*Please note that for some program dates interns will also be required to meet at or travel to other local institutions, organizations, and libraries to participate in special workshops and learning activities.
