Safe Work Starts Here
Before working onsite, all volunteers must read and sign this safety document. It is the responsibility of Habitat for Humanity of Wood County Ohio Inc. to provide a safe work environment and our ability to do that starts with you by doing the following: 
  1. Report all unsafe conditions, near misses and incidents to the site leader immediately. 
  2. Participate in daily site safety briefing which will include job specific instructions as well as emergency plans.
  3. Wear required PPE while onsite.
    a. Sturdy sole, closed toed shoes
    b. Clothing appropriate for the weather. No jewelry. No baggy clothes.
    c. Safety Glasses- Provided
    d. Gloves- Provided
    e. Hearing protection/hardhats- provided 
  4. Follow the instructions of the site leader to know what to do in the event of an emergency. 
  5. Ask for help if you are unsure of how to do something. 
  6. Use proper lifting techniques, lift with your legs not your back. For heavy items get another person or two. 
  7. Inspect all tools and equipment before use, whether it is your own personal item or property of Habitat. Tools that are unsafe must be taken out of service. 
  8. Only use power tools if approved to do so by the site lead. 
  9. Repeated unsafe behaviors following correction and coaching may result in dismissal from the build site.
