Hi! I'm Gray (they/them) 🙂

Around 2017 I decided to go vegetarian and then vegan just a few months later.

My 3 big reasons for being vegan are ethics, environment, and health, in that order. As a midwestern kid, eating animals just seemed like the default setting and no one ever questioned it. I remember feeling like it was unfortunate that we had to eat other living creatures, but it wasn't until talking with a friend that I fully realized that humans, in fact, don't have to at all. And if you don't have to take a life, why would you? Fun little factoids (like how it takes a tremendous amount of fresh water for a cow to produce a miniscule amount of milk) show that becoming vegan is a choice that has a direct impact on the world around you for both the animals and the environment in which we all live.

Healthwise, I used to rely on a lot of fast food. When I cut animals out of my diet, I began to cook more interesting recipes at home and balanced out how I ate (check out the Daily Dozen app). It also definitely turned me into more of a foodie. I love going to restaurants and seeing what they come up with and what they use to make it. Health is last for me because I still love vegan junk food and can help anyone looking to find some tasty treats. The absolute best thing for me is a vegan cheeseburger. Also, to quote something I heard or read somewhere once, "even if veganism was unhealthy, I'd still be vegan

I'd be more than happy to share my experiences and help out in whatever way for anyone willing to make a change in their life. I believe veganism is part of the larger intersectional push for social change and anything that increases human rights is important to me. I have a history of being pretty introverted and also spend a lot of time thinking on things in general. One of my favorite hobbies is playing board games, card games, video games, and any kind of game really. I can also be found noodling around on the bass guitar or getting paint everywhere except where it is supposed to be.
