SMC One to One Technology Program
St Mary’s College, Gunnedah (The College) will provide a Chromebook  to all new students in 2022, including the Year 7 cohort. A technology levy will be charged for the use of the Chromebook device whilst the student is enrolled at The College. $120 per year will be added to College fees for Year 7, 8 and 9 students.  Please note that the levy will be $150 per year for Year 10, 11 and 12 students who opt into the program due to the slightly more sophisticated model.  

If a student ceases enrolment, the Chromebook must be returned. If the Chromebook is not returned, the full cost of the Chromebook will be charged to families.

It is the policy of the Catholic Schools Office, Diocese of Armidale, that Chromebook devices have an expected lifespan of 3 years. At the end of this period, The College will decide whether to retain the device, sell the device at an agreed market price, or give students the device they were allocated.

Chromebook Acceptance Agreement

While my child is at The College, the Catholic Schools Office internet filtering system reduces the risk of accidental access to inappropriate online content. The College, and other related parties working with The College, may monitor the use of Chromebooks and may access information added to the Chromebook. *

I am responsible for my child’s use of the Chromebook outside regular school hours, including supervision and ensuring healthy, safe and acceptable use. *

I will immediately notify the school if my child’s Chromebook is stolen, lost or damaged and provide any evidence that the College asks for, such as a statutory declaration or police report. Stolen, lost or damaged Chromebooks will be remotely disabled by The College. *

I am responsible for any cost to repair or replace any Chromebook that is not covered by warranty. *

The replacement Chromebook will incur a new service fee via school fees. *

I will return the Chromebook and all accessories to the school if requested, or when my child is no longer enrolled at The College. *

A breach of this agreement, or the Acceptable use of ICT Agreement, including misuse of the Chromebook, could result in removal of access to the Chromebook. Any illegal behaviour will be notified to the police. *

Follow all of the conditions mentioned above, comply with any of The College and/or Diocese policies, and follow any other instructions from The College regarding the Chromebook. *

Immediately report any issues to The College. *

Return the Chromebook whenever requested or when I/my child is no longer enrolled at The College. *

If I/my child does not use the Chromebook responsibly, the College will take appropriate action that may include rescinding access to the Chromebook or take any other appropriate actions.
