The Full Hearts Program: Class Sign-up Form
Hello families!

We are the Mission San Jose Students for Rare Diseases club, a chapter of the National Organization for Rare Disorders in Fremont, CA! Our club's mission is to fight for advocacy in the rare disease community and to help others through service and compassion. We have recently opened up sign-ups for the Full Hearts Program, an enrichment program open to all children where high school students will offer educational mentorship over Zoom. Patients or children can attend free zoom classes consisting of storytelling, arts and crafts, STEM/Humanities, music, and many more! Classes will last up to one hour and patients/children will be able to choose which to attend that appeals best to their interests. Each of our classes is meant to be engaging and fun for children, to combat the isolation that many children are facing, especially due to the pandemic. We have exceptionally talented and skilled high school volunteers that are dedicated to teaching classes in arts or dance, for example, or read stories to young children!  We have a rigorous process in selecting the volunteers, and each volunteer will be trained prior to working with children. We have options for a group setting with mentor volunteers or one-on-one sessions and timings are flexible for one-on-one settings! Classes will typically be weekly. If you and your child are interested in signing up for any of our live Zoom classes, please fill out the form below!

The following are profiles of the mentors under our program, which we've included so that you can get to know them better!
My name is Nandika Nambiar. I am in 10th grade in Mission San Jose High School. My hobbies revolve around dancing, playing piano, and playing the ukulele. I enjoy science. I love working with children, and I can’t wait to meet you!
Hello! My name is Alyssa and I am currently a sophomore. Some of my hobbies are painting, swimming, traveling, and playing with my dog and sisters! Activities I have signed up for include singing, reading books, and arts and crafts. I have been in choir and art classes for a while, so I am pretty experienced in those categories. However, I am always open to new activities to try out, so I am definitely flexible there. I look forward to meeting some of you!
Hi! My name is Nirmayi Deshpande and I’m a freshman at MSJ High School. Through this mentorship program, I hope to interact with and educate kids on something they’re interested in. I truly enjoy spending time with kids and teaching, in general. I enjoy doing arts, crafts, singing, reading, and several other activities. This program is an excellent opportunity for me to spend time with kids and for everyone to have a good time. Hopefully, my mentee will enjoy it just as much! I’m eager to begin mentoring and I can’t wait to meet my mentee soon.
Hi! My name is Gayatri Kundassery, and I am looking forward to being a mentor. I have been learning music since I was about 4 years old, and so it has been a huge part of my life. I would love to have the opportunity to teach kids vocals and cultivate a relationship within music in their lives. Aside from that, I would love to read stories and guide them through some arts and crafts! With this mentoring program, I hope to bring a little joy into the lives of these kids and build sweet relationships with the patients.
Hello, My Name Udhav Sharma. I am an 11th grader. I have been teaching 10 incoming 8th graders for over 4 months now, I teach Math, Science, and English. I love teaching them since I get to guide them and teach them to not make the mistakes that I made. I really enjoy teaching this group, and hope to continue to do so. I have a lot of experience in working with younger children and want to go into the medical field.
Hi, my name is Harsh Patel, and I am looking forward to becoming a mentor. It would be a touching moment to teach kids activities that I loved to do growing up. Reading stories and making art brought me to a different world where I could use my imagination and I would like to witness that in these kids. With this mentoring program, I would like to bring a smile to their face and build relationships with the patients.
Hi! My name is Himani and I hope to spend some time bonding with the kids I will be mentoring. My main goal is to enlighten their spirits, and make them happy in any way possible!
Hi! My name is Falak Chhatre. I'm a freshman at MSJHS. My goal for this incredible program is to educate young children in a fun and exciting way! I will be extremely dedicated overall and in working towards a tremendous interactive experience. I immensely enjoy teaching and being around children. I have a younger sister with whom I love to read, do crafts, and spend time. Some of my qualifications and experiences include hosting an art camp for younger kids as well as tutoring a few in STEM subjects. Furthermore, my passions and strengths include reading, painting, drawing, communication, and STEM subjects. Through this mentorship program, I aim to provide a space for children to have fun and learn simultaneously. I am enthusiastic to begin mentoring and give back to my community!
Hello, I'm Estee (currently a freshman at MSJHS)! By joining this program and becoming a mentor, I hope to share things that make me happy with others, while also gaining new knowledge along the way! I’ve always had a passion for drawing and would be honored to be able to share that passion with others who enjoy it as well!
Hi! My name is Advika Govindarajan and I am a sophomore at Mission San Jose High School. I have always loved working and interacting with children because they are some of the happiest and funniest people I know. My goal in being a mentor is to bring joy and reciprocate the same positive energy back to the kids. Through my experience working with kids I have learned some pretty essential skills such as patience, flexibility, having good communication skills, and most importantly being passionate. In this program I will mostly be reading them stories among other activities so I will make sure tp teach them about the moral of the stories or just have conversations about what they liked or disliked about the stories.  Due to the pandemic many people can't get the education or human interaction they need which is pretty much a necessity especially for children and I hope to give this to them. Thank you!
