Our students are the most important gifts God has entrusted to us. As a
intern, I promise to strictly follow the rules and guidelines in this Volunteer’s Code of Conduct.
As a volunteer, I will:
• Treat EVERYONE with respect, loyalty, patience, integrity, courtesy, dignity, and consideration.
• Avoid situations where I am alone with Unless U students.
• Use positive reinforcement rather than criticism, competition, or comparison when working with students.
• Be a positive role model for the students.
• Dress appropriately. I will not wear: t-shirts, low cut tops, shorts, or
dresses more than 2 inches above the knee. If I wear leggings, I will wear
the appropriate length top over them.
• Refrain from any form of personal abuse towards students and others, including inappropriate or unwanted sexual advances on others, verbal,
physical and emotional abuse.
•Be alert to any form of abuse from other sources directed toward students in my care.
•Be professional in my interactions with the Unless U staff and students.
There is a time and a place for goofing off and having fun.
• Consistently ask the staff how I can help and assist students in all areas
possible.
•Encourage all students to participate in the classroom and other activities.
• Leave my cell phone in my car, purse, or bag.
As a volunteer, I will not:
• Smoke or use tobacco products in the presence of Unless U students
• Use, possess, or be under the influence of alcohol at any time while volunteering.
• Use, possess, or be under the influence of illegal drugs at any time.
• Pose any health risk to students (i.e., no fevers or other contagious situations).
• Humiliate, ridicule, threaten, or degrade students.
• My language, manner, punctuality, preparation and presentation will
demonstrate high standards.
• Have verbal disagreements with other volunteers or staff members in
front of the students.
• Post pictures of Unless U students on social media. However, I can share
photos that Unless U puts on social media.
I understand that as a volunteer working with students at Unless U, I am
subject to a thorough background check including criminal history. I understand that any action inconsistent with this Code of Conduct or failure
to take action mandated by this Code of Conduct may result in my removal as a volunteer at Unless U.
