Public Comment - One Year Waiver

As part of waiver requirements, we are posting an opportunity for public comment regarding the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) seeking a waiver pursuant to §8401(b) from requirements within the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015 from the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE). The USDOE requires state educational agencies, when seeking waivers from statutory or regulatory requirements, solicit and respond to public comment on the request and provide evidence of the available comment period. This 15-day public comment period is from July 21-August 4, 2021.

Directions: Please read the Waiver Request letter. You may comment on any or all of the areas affected by the requested waiver. Comments will be accepted through August 4, 2021.

Arizona is seeking a waiver of section 421(b) of the General Provisions Act (Tydings waiver) with respect to your fiscal year 2016 School Improvement Grant funds (CFDA 84.377A) to extend the period of availability to September 30, 2022.
