ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS
The Roxbury Youth Programs Internships equip young people ages 13-19 with skills in leadership, self-efficacy, and creativity through a lens of community history and social change. RYP will offer two internship programs for the 2022-2023 academic year, which will run concurrently from October 2022-May 2023.

  • Internship 1: Learning Artists
Meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4pm-6pm (drop-in program; daily attendance encouraged, but not mandatory)
The Learning Artists internship program is a stipended "learn-and-earn" program intended to provide teens with job readiness and life skills, while introducing the balance between academic work and extracurricular activities. Learning Artists will gain skills in photography and videography while exploring historical landmarks, public art, and community organizing efforts in Roxbury. Artists will make a social justice film for their final project in May.
  • Internship 2: Community Artists Meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4pm-6pm (attendance at all classes is required)
The Community Artists internship program is a paid position intended to provide teens with realistic workforce development and support. This advanced photography + artmaking internship explores the intersections of art, activism, and community history. Interns will engage with topics such as gentrification and movement building as they learn skills in event planning, budgeting, and community organizing. Interns will plan and organize the UUUM Community Art Day + Film Screening as their final project in May.
