Thank you for agreeing to position of leadership at The Jewish Center! Below is our Brit - our list of expectations of you as role models in the community.
Responsibilities and Expectations:
TimelinessArrive at or before 8:45 am and take it upon yourself to check in with your teacher about the day's class.
Attendance
We depend on you! If you are not able to be here, please give as much advance notice as possible, no later than the Friday before in the form of an email, to Sharon
sdiamondstein@thejewishcenter.org. Only in the case of emergencies should you text Sharon (732)485-5667 after Shabbat.
Role Modeling
You are a
doogma - a personal example to others. Please be an enthusiastic and energetic participant in all program activities!
Partner with Teachers Lead groups and activities in the classroom.
Awareness
Help students build relationships by checking in with students throughout the class time. Be on the lookout for bullying.
Flexibility Our programming can change at a moment’s notice, so be ready to adapt as we go, while maintaining a positive attitude.
Ownership of Transition Times Keep an eye on students at these times; play a game or check in with students.
Active Participation Participate in the lesson. You are a doogma - please model for the rest of the students. Be a leader!
Creativity We want your ideas and talents! Find an appropriate time (not in front of students) to share your great ideas with teachers and Program Directors.
Confidentiality and Appropriateness Confidentiality means respecting the privacy of actions and words of students.
Keep student issues private and limited to those who need to know. This includes Sharon and the teacher only.
Do not ever share private details of your own life with students.
Do not communicate directly with parents of students in your class at any time.
If an issue arises during class, please alert Sharon immediately.
Absolutely NO cell phone use other than for education program business.
Dress appropriately for the classroom environment, this includes wearing a Kippah. The wearing of Kippot are required by those who identify as male, and are optional and encouraged for those who identify as female or non-binary.
We want our students to see their role models as active participants in our community. As such, we strongly encourage you to attend and participate in Shabbat morning or Friday evening services when you are able.
Use appropriate and positive language with all students.
Social Media UsagePlease remember that you are in a position of leadership in a religious institution. As such, we expect that you will maintain a positive presence online. You will not post anything about teachers or students with whom you work. You will also present yourself in a proper way.
Please do not text Sharon on Shabbat unless it is an emergency.
