**WE ARE ALREADY AT CAPACITY FOR RACE DIALOGUES SUMMER 2020! OUR 28 SLOTS ARE FULL. WE WELCOME YOU TO STILL SUBMIT THE FORM ASAP TO ENTER OUR WAITLIST AND WE WILL EMAIL YOU SHORTLY ABOUT WHETHER THERE IS A SPOT FOR YOU! IF NOT, THERE WILL BE MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR NEXT ROUND OF RACE DIALOGUES.**
Race Dialogues at Antioch for this summer will run virtually over Zoom from the week of July 13th through the week of August 17th. We will meet weekly for 1.5 - 2 hours per meeting. We will likely have 2 or 3 groups meeting at different times during the week, and specific cohort dates will be announced soon after registering interest. Once we have scheduling set, we ask that you commit to the full series so that trust can be built within your specific group (1 or 2 absences can be worked around, if absolutely necessary). Please fill out this form if you are IN contingent on there being an evening or afternoon time that works well for you.
What happens within the group? We share our stories and experiences with one another. We study and discuss material together - articles, podcasts, videos - wanting to honestly face the reality of racial brokenness and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to us as we respond with lament, repentance and intercession. From there we talk about how to move forward and live justly. And we do it all together; this is important to us. We acknowledge that we are all starting in different places, and we don't split up into people of color and white people because we're seeking unity as a body of Christ across racial lines. Our hope is that in this process God would draw us closer to his heart, knit us deeply together as a church, and make us to be people who are better attuned to brokenness and pain around us and equipped to respond boldly as God's ministers of reconciliation.
We welcome people entering this conversation at all stages! The conversation will be guided, so you do not need to have prior knowledge or experience, and you do not need to "have your act together"; just come with humility. Please be aware that since everyone will come from different backgrounds, upbringings, and experiences, we cannot guarantee a totally safe space - but we will fill the space with GRACE that we've been given by Jesus.
