Hello! I am so glad you're interested in participating in the Let's Get Cozy Swap (#CozySwap)! A few things first.
1) As a participant of this swap, as with most others on Litsy, you are agreeing to be bound by the Litsy Swap rules, found at @LitsySwaps on Litsy. **Please REVIEW the rules AND VERIFY that you will abide by them.** If you have violated the Litsy Swap rules in past swaps, I reserve the right to not match you. If you believe your situation was extenuating in a past swap, you can provide an explanation in the 2nd to last question in this form ("anything else for me"), but I continue to reserve my right to not match anyone.
**NOTE: Although this is an international swap, if I am unable to match you due to country/size-of-package restrictions, I will let you know on the matches-sent date**
2) What's this swap about? If you're here, you love cozies and/or cozy things. This swap encompasses both. That means that if you are participating in this swap you WILL SEND (and receive) at least ONE COZY MYSTERY. If you're not interested in cozies, then this is not the swap for you! (Don't worry, Fall is FULL of Litsy swaps! Another will be forthcoming.)
WHAT IS A COZY MYSTERY?
In case you're not sure what a "cozy mystery" is --> it's a murder mystery "lite" (i.e., not much gore/scary'ness/bloody details) that follows a general pattern of having a female amateur detective (usually unofficially -- she'll just sort of "fall into" the murder mystery), a light romantic side-story, and is often set in or involves coffee shops, bakeries, or bed & breakfasts (or other similar types of locales). Popular examples include Cleo Coyle's Coffeehouse Mysteries (which are actually set in NYC, but that's a bit of an anomaly), and Lorna Barrett's Booktown Mysteries Series. Let me know if you want more examples! You can also google: "popular cozy mystery series" and you'll find a LOT of examples!
3) This will be a "secret swap" -- this means that the person you are sending a package to is *not necessarily* the same person you will receive a package from. It *could* be the same person, but you won't know until open date.
4) This is part of the Swap Rules and should go without saying, but YOU AGREE to TIMELY COMMUNICATE with me about receiving your match, sending a package, AND receiving a package (posts, comments, or emails are all fine for these). YOU ALSO AGREE to POST ON LITSY on Open Day with a picture of what your sender has sent you, tagging both me and your sender.
5) This is also part of the Swap Rules and should go without saying, but as a participant of this swap, YOU AGREE TO SEND a package in a TIMELY manner (send-by date is 2 weeks before open-by date to ensure everyone has a package to open on open day!). Please plan ahead! If **unforeseen** circumstances arise, please contact me and your partner AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. You will still be expected to honor your commitment, but I will be happy to work with you.
6) PERTINENT DATES:
Sign ups: now through August 11th, 2019
Matches sent: August 12th 2019
Send by: September 9, 2019 (earlier for international! Please give at least 3 weeks for inter-country shipments.)
Open date: Monday, September 23, 2019 (First Day of Fall!)
**SHIPPING NOTE**
Within the US: Media-mail can take 10+ days to ship. This is, of course, the cheapest way to ship books, but that is ALL that is supposed to be included in the box... books (and magazines of course). Sometimes people send 1 box media and the rest via 1st class or priority.
First class mail can take anywhere from a couple days to a week or longer. I have found that most of the time, 1st class shipping isn't much cheaper than priority, if at all.
Priority Mail *usually* takes 2-5 days -- there are flat rate boxes that can be helpful (Medium flat rate boxes cost $14.35 to ship and Large flat rate boxes cost $19.95 to ship -- both within the US).
INTERNATIONAL (between countries) shipment can take a couple weeks -- be sure to plan ahead! Also, if you have not shipped internationally before, please note that shipping form the U.S. to a different country IS EXPENSIVE ($50 and more for a medium-sized package)! This may also be true from other countries. Be sure you understand the commitment before agreeing to it.
7) DETAILS/EXPECTATIONS:
The *minimum* for this swap is 1 book + 1 bookish goody. (Questions below will narrow further.)
USED books *are* acceptable, but if you send used, please be sure to send one(s) in "very good" or better condition (no mold, writing, odors, etc.)!
NOTE: the book(s) you receive MAY NOT be from your specified wish list... some people like to send surprises. If this will be a problem for you, please be sure to note it on your form so your partner is aware. (Again, use the "anything else" section to let your partner know.)
Remember, the spirit of this swap is FUN.
That's it. Be sure to email me with any questions or concerns!!
Leathy18@gmail.com.
Please give me a few days to respond... I almost always respond within 24 hours, but I'm not always able to respond immediately. I promise that I will get to it as soon as I can! If it's been more than a couple days, comment on Litsy ... in case your message was lost, etc.
