Dear Samuel Mickle Strings Parents,


Welcome back to school and to strings! As we begin this exciting new year, I am looking forward to working with your child at Samuel Mickle and continuing to refine their string instrumental skills and continue their musical journey! I would like to first say that I am extremely pleased to have your child in my strings class again!  

Your child will come to lessons during their scheduled period on Day 1, Day 2, or Day 3.

It will be important for the students to have a folder or binder and for either student or parent to be part of Google Classroom and Remind. I will check to make sure your child has the music that they are expected to practice and that your child is managing their materials well. In addition to a folder/binder, your child will need to also bring their instrument to their lesson.

Please feel comfortable emailing me if you are interested in renting a school instrument. Samuel Mickle does have a limited number of instruments available for rent, but I would be happy to provide more information regarding that via email.

Instrumental rentals are available through Coles Music Service - 856-848-2122 or via the website: www.colesmusicservice.com

There will be a parent meeting for Strings on Wednesday, September 13th from 6-7pm in the Samuel Mickle LGI. During the meeting, we will discuss information about lessons, this year's important dates & attire, where to find information and how to sign up for the Remind app.

Instrument size: Most students will be sized at a ½ size violin. If your child is taller or in 4th - 6th grade, I would recommend a ¾ size violin. Coles Music can size your child at the shop, or you can email Mrs. Stewart for an estimate on what size would be best.

I am excited for another year of great musical experiences; I look forward to teaching your child the art of string instruments and guiding them through such a special, artistic experience.

Please electronically sign below to give permission for your child to participate in the Strings Class Program/Lessons.  I understand that lessons occur on either Day 1, 2, or 3. My child will be pulled from one period once period per week to develop strings technique and instrumental skills. I understand it is our responsibility to make sure my child has an instrument and remembers to bring their binder/folder and that instrument to classes. Teachers may request that if a student forgets their instrument, that the student remain in class instead of attending an instrumental lesson. *
