Youth Voice Canterbury (YVC) is a youth-led community organisation that aims to support young people to have a voice in decision-making that affects them.
The Youth Voice Canterbury network includes youth participation groups, youth councils and advisory groups, clubs and organisations that are youth led. We will also be offering membership to individual young people who want to get involved.
Youth Voice Canterbury are launching a project called ReDefine, focusing on empowering and supporting youth with disabilities (aged 12-24). ReDefine is about telling the stories of people with disabilities, creating events and training to up-skill youth with disabilities and non-disabled youth, and creating ways for youth with disabilities to engage and connect meaningfully with YVC.
As we know young people come from diverse backgrounds and experiences and youth with disabilities are no different, YVC is creating an Advisory Group of a handful of young people (aged 12-24) with disabilities to help support us with ReDefine.
This is a volunteer position, and expectations are as followed:
•
Attend the 3-4 scheduled Advisory Group meetings
•
Attend the 3 scheduled ReDefine events
•
Advise YVC on their engagement and programme for youth with disabilities
Important dates:
Applications open Friday 14th June
Applications close Friday 28th June
First meeting Tuesday 9th July
