The City of Knoxville’s Waste and Resources Management Office has been awarded the USDA Compost and Food Waste Reduction Grant, supporting the expansion of the Knoxville Compost Project! As part of the grant the City of Knoxville, CAC Beardsley Farm, and the Knox County Community Gardens and Growers Alliance are seeking applications from established community gardens with interest in a three-bin (medium capacity/ 7 cubic yards), lidded composting system. Only the seven chosen applicants will be awarded
compost bins. The bins will be built on site and will be completed between September 2023 and September 2024. As part of the City’s required reporting to the USDA, chosen community gardens will be required to maintain the bins and send the City reports every 6 months following installation.
