Roosevelt Middle School 6th Grade Preferences 2022-2023
Dear Enrolling Parent/Guardian & Student,

Welcome to Roosevelt Middle School!

We are eagerly looking forward to welcoming our 2022-2023 6th grade students.

Please complete this form with your incoming 6th grade student to let us know your student's elective preferences. Prior to doing so, please review the Roosevelt program requirements below.

Roosevelt 6th Grade Program Requirements:

6th grade students all take year-long language arts, math, science, and social studies courses.

6th grade students take a year-long trimester rotation sequence including a trimester-long health class, one trimester of P.E., and one trimester class focusing on skills critical to the middle school student.

6th grade students take a year-long elective. Elective offerings include Band, Orchestra, Art/Drama, or Elements of Music/Art.

Elements of Music focuses on fretboard technique (ukulele and/or guitar), percussion technique (drumming), vocal development (singing), and more ways to make music on your own and with friends.

Elective class offerings include band, orchestra, art/drama, and Strum, Drum, & Hum: Elements of Music/art. Band and orchestra are year-long classes.

Art is offered as part of a trimester rotation sequence paired with drama with an art emphasis or a drama emphasis or paired with Elements of Music with an art emphasis or a music emphasis.

Drama is offered as a part of a trimester rotation sequence paired with art with an art emphasis or a drama emphasis.

Elements of Music is offered as part of a trimester rotation sequence paired with art with a music emphasis or an art emphasis.

Please rank order your student's elective class preferences in order with #1 as the most preferred class. Please be sure to rank all of the elective class preferences, 1-6. Thank you.
