This registration form is to sign up for the STEMarts Bootcamp taking place at UNM-Taos HIVE in Taos, New Mexico on March 9, 2024. The workshop will include coffee and croissants in the morning and lunch.
Agnes Chavez, STEMarts Lab Director, and artist, sets the stage, stating, "We kick off the morning with two in person presentations. LANL astrophysicist, Dr. Nicole Lloyd Ronning will give a demonstration to explain what space time, the fabric of the cosmos, gravitational waves and multi messengers astronomy. She will be followed by Arwen Hubbard, a NASA Solar System Ambassador who will answer questions about space exploration and NASA.
The day progresses with participants enjoying a complimentary lunch, fostering connections and building friendships. Post-lunch, the focus shifts to art-making inspired by the earlier science discussions. Chavez introduces Augmented Reality art installations including the newly launched "SPACE MESSENGERS [AR]," a forthcoming interactive Augmented Reality exploration of the universe. Through a hands-on workshop, guided by STEMarts Ambassadors, UNM alumni/artists Ian Harrison, and Julia Doke, participants will utilize the free 3D modeling software Blender to create space-themed digital content for an AR experience which we will test in the bootcamp. Participants will form teams and design their own AR experiences for future projects.
Additionally, interested participants can sign up to become STEMarts Ambassadors, receiving specialized training to earn stipends at live events and workshops.
