Bowman Girls Who Code Club 2022-2023
We are starting a Girls Who Code Club at Bowman for 3rd-5th grade girls and non-binary students.  The focus on this club will be to learn about computer science and the role women have played in this field.

The club will meet from October to May during the school year.  There will be in person meetings during the school year in October and May (Thursday 8am) at Bowman and weekly 60 minute meetings on Zoom from November - April (Fridays at 3pm).  There is no GWC if there is no school that day / week.  Attendance at all meetings is not required - students can participate in a remote or hybrid mode as well.

Fill out the form below to register.  The limitations on the club are 20-25 students per Facilitator. If any caregiver would like to volunteer as a Facilitator, please indicate this in the form below.

There is no fee to participate in the club, but we would appreciate an optional club donation to the PTO for extra materials for the students: https://bowmanpto.membershiptoolkit.com/packet/5275

Contact the Bowman GWC Facilitators (Brandy Hartford, Courtney Jones, and Jackie Anderson) at gwc@bowmanpto.org with any questions.

What is Girls Who Code?
Girls Who Code is a non-profit organization with the mission to reduce the gender gap in technology.
A Girls Who Code Club is a free program for 3rd-5th grade girls and non-binary students to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models using computer science to change the world.
For 3rd-5th grade, no device is necessary for the program - we will focus on sisterhood, reading and discussion, discussion about women in tech, and creative exercises.  All curriculum is provided by Girls Who Code.  See https://girlswhocode.com for full details.
