GLA Elementary School Lacrosse Program Representative(s) - Application Form
This form is for individuals looking to apply for the GLA Elementary School Lacrosse Program Representative position (see posting released Friday February 18).

New in 2022, the Gloucester Lacrosse Association will be partnering with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board’s Indigenous Education and Learning Team to deliver an introductory elementary school Lacrosse program. The program will deliver prepared curriculum aimed at introducing students to the sport’s strong Indigenous roots and historical significance as well as provide information related to the current delivery modes for various forms of Lacrosse.  Furthermore, this program will offer the opportunity for students to pick up a stick, learn some basic skills and have fun! In 2022, the intent is to deliver this program to 50 schools with growth anticipated in subsequent years.

There are two parts to this position:
1. Teaching the cultural & historical significance of Lacrosse through an Indigenous lens across time, and
2. Demonstrating and teaching introductory physical aspects of the game.

These are paid positions and may require multiple candidates to fulfill the program as intended. Candidate(s) will report to the Board of Directors and will liaise with Stephanie Pagan, President of GLA to coordinate and plan school talks and visits. We are aiming to provide Grade 4 & 5 classes with Part 1 (virtually) in March/April and Part 2 (in-person and outdoors) in May/June.

Requirements (ALL Candidates):
a varied lacrosse experience in such areas as playing, coaching, management and administration,
demonstrate an outgoing, social personality to engage students in the learning,
availability during school hours (i.e., Mon – Fri; 8:00am – 3:00pm)
submission of a clean Police Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector
show proof of COVID double vaccination (at the time of this posting this is a requirement)
represent the GLA with integrity, professionalism and a passion for the sport
Requirement for candidates looking to fulfill the cultural teaching component of the program:
this component is Indigenous led; candidates must identify as Indigenous due to the curriculum focus
Asset criteria include:
Preference for a candidate who has experience working with elementary aged children.
Preference for a candidate who has access to a motor vehicle
Preference for a GLA alumni player
