We are excited for the 2024 Dolphins Swim Season, under the leadership of Coach Lauren Eusanio, who will be taking on the role of Head Coach this year. As the plans for the season evolve, we will update our website: devondolphins.ca

SAVE THE DATE(S):
A calendar of swim meet dates and swim club events/activities will be shared at the parent meeting on May 1st!  Expect a full slate of swim meets through June and July to prepare for Regionals (Aug 10/11) and Provincials (Aug 16-18) in August.  For now - please mark your calendars for:

SWIMWEAR SIZING EVENING: April 4th there will be a Swimwear Sizing Evening at the Community Centre.  A link will be sent out with more details post-registration that will allow you to sign up for a time slot, allowing for a smooth and efficient try on process.

BOTTLE DRIVE:  May 11th AM - all swim club families to participate!

PARENT ENGAGEMENT MEETING: May 1st - please plan to attend as this is an opportunity for us to connect, highlight the plans and goals for the season, review the calendar of events, and explore opportunities for parent support and involvement. More details will be provided post-registration.

FIRST SWIM DAY: tentatively slotted for May 21st. This is dependent on when the pool opens.  First day for Juniors is tentatively slotted for June 18th.

DEVON SWIM MEET: July 5th & 6th.  All swimmers are strongly encouraged to participate in our home meet, and we need all hands on deck from parents in order to host this fantastic event!

GEAR/ATTIRE:
DDSC SWIM WEAR:  DDSC swimwear is highly encouraged for Seniors and Inter-Seniors, as well as any swimmer intending to compete regularly; all other swimmers are invited to consider team DDSC swimwear. All swimwear will be ordered shortly after the sizing event.

DDSC SPIRIT WEAR: Options for Spirit Wear and order details will be available at the Swimwear Sizing Evening.

SWIM GEAR: All swimmers are responsible for streamlined training swimwear (generally one-piece training suits or jammers) and goggles.  Seniors and Inter-Seniors are required to have their own fins as well (Intermediates and Juniors would benefit from this, however it is not required).

New This Season: We know that swimming 5 days/wk is a lot for some kiddos, and that spring and summer routines can be quite different. This year junior training will be 3 days/wk - Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday beginning mid-June.  Juniors will also be invited to participate on Fun Fridays!
  • Please note - this is NOT a learn-to-swim program - all junior swimmers will be assessed by coaches to determine if they meet the swimmer readiness criteria
  • Junior swimmers should know the foundations of front and back crawl, can competently swim the length of the pool (25m) unassisted, are comfortable in deep water, and can safely enter and exit the pool from the deep end (skills equivalent to completion of Red Cross Swim Kids 4 / Lifesaving Society Swimmer 3)
  • Training is focused on basic skill development of basic swim skills, including strokes, turns, and starts, and provides an introduction to the sport and the basics of competition
  • Focus is on high repetition, low intensity skill training, with some intensity progression to challenge skill acquisition
  • Encouraged to participate in at least our Home Meet
  • These swimmers are scheduled to swim 3 times per week: Tues/Wed/Thurs 5:05-5:50pm - plus Fun Fridays!
